For 35 years, Richlen has constructed in the San Francisco Bay Area - we've experienced first-hand what sets the standards and drives the trends in the commercial building marketplace. Everyone wants prime location, accessibility, and the best value per dollar on square footage...Everyone wants the next trendy office! To the best of our abilities here at Richlen, we believe we help to provide our clients with it all! Our years in construction have enabled us to work with the areas' most proficient property managers, owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and expert personnel. However, our working relationships with these professionals may be compromised, if the state legislature proposed, "Split Roll Property Tax" is passed. Our clients, our colleagues... startups to small businesses (like the featured article points out), to women and minority-owned businesses, including ourselves will end up paying more for properties and work spaces, as well as our homes, and our rents. No California business is exempt!  New and old businesses may not have a choice, but to go elsewhere to neighboring states where taxes are lower and regulations are less, and a profit can be made.

Most in business are "tenants," including us! We lease our space at 45 Fremont Street in San Francisco, and we own our building headquarters in Pacheco. Ourselves and many other businesses proudly display our California business license on the front wall, behind our receptionist. It has our first dollar made. However, like others, it might not have that dollar bill in it for much longer. It may be an empty frame entirely, perhaps just like the building it's hung in. California business owners can only have optimism toward our state legislators. Confidence that they recognize if property taxes are increased, even if it is a smidgen, it will be the final kill-off for many established California's businesses.
